The acquisition announcement names the new owner

Moz's announcement says iContact acquired the company and places it alongside the Campaigner, SMTP and Kickbox brands. Moz's company history describes the resulting Moz Group chapter. This was an ownership change, separate from the earlier SEOmoz-to-Moz rebrand. Moz announces its acquisition by iContact, June 4, 2021; Moz company history

A larger family does not tell you what is included

A business can own an SEO tool and an email tool while selling them through different agreements. A buyer needs the actual product terms to know whether there is shared access or a paid connection. The family tree alone cannot answer that.

For a small team, the attraction of a wider group may be easier coordination. The risk is assuming a connection exists before someone has demonstrated the work from start to finish.

How we would evaluate the ownership change

We would keep the account's current requirements in view. Who provides support? Which product handles the task? Can the team take its reports with it if the arrangement changes? These are concrete buying questions rather than predictions that every acquisition will improve or damage a product.

The Moz alternatives comparison helps evaluate the subscription itself. This dated acquisition record explains the company relationship behind it. An announcement of future investment is a statement of intent; a buyer should still judge the capability available when signing.
